If someone joins between January and March, the annual membership up to 31st March is waived, and the first membership fee that will be due, will be for the next membership year commencing 1st April. However, like all other members, any new members would be expected to pay for events attended. If joining between April and December, the full annual fee will be due.
Membership is open to all and there are 3 categories:
Individual - anyone over 18 years, £10.
Couple/Family - 2 Adults & children under 18, £15
Corporate - any business, association or group of people with a shared interest.
Membership includes the following benefits:
Annual Official Twinning visit Truro to Morlaix - an official group trip to Morlaix in France once a year. You pay transport to Plymouth, and ferry return costs but we will pass on any group discounts that are available. Staying with a French family in their home is at no extra cost (other than a small thank you gift from you to your host), or if preferred you can stay (at your own cost) in a b&b or hotel. All meals, events and visits which are organised by the Morlaix Twinning Association or by your French hosts are complimentary to Truro Twinning members. Communication is in both french and english. It is not necessary for you to host in order to take part in our Morlaix Twinning visits. All we ask is that you support our fund-raising events throughout the year. If numbers have to be limited for official twinning visits to Morlaix, priority will be given to active participants of the association.
Social events - a programme of organised activities in and around Truro throughout the year. There may be a small charge to recover costs such as food, drinks or venue hire.
Events Programme There are regular updates to the web site and emails to keep you informed of events and activities of members and the association.
Friendship and participation in the Annual Official visit Morlaix to Truro - Meeting both english and french like-minded people. Participation in organised events during the annual official trip of the Morlaix Twinners to Truro, and the opportunity to host a french visitor(s) should you wish. You will need to pay for any meals or transport you provide as host to your French guest or any visit or event you personally organise for them. The association covers most of the group event costs of any member who hosts a Morlaix guest during the Truro official visit, but other non-hosting Truro members will normally be asked to pay for their own cost of events such as meals, exhibitions or garden visits. Communication is in both french and english.
Annual Language Immersion visits - Arrangements do differ from the official twinning visits. The annual Immersion visits are restricted to a maximum of ten participants, with just one individual staying with each host. The aim is to improve language skills and all communication is encouraged to be in the host's language - in french for Immersion visits from Truro to Morlaix, and in english for Immersion visits from Morlaix to Truro. There is no official program for group visits or activities, but there is usually a get together meal for all participants and hosts at the end of the visit. The guest will generally follow the host's day to day routine, conversing in the host's language. As a guest you will normally be expected to pay your share for outside activities, eg. visits, where costs apply, although hosts are asked to be mindful of not visiting places that cost money, unless specifically asked to do so.

Print the 2 Membership Documents below and send us the completed Membership Form and cheque or bank transfer/standing order, to Martin Davies, Treasurer as directed on the TMTA membership form. Wherever possible we would prefer a Standing Order, which of course may be cancelled by you at any time. This greatly reduces our administrative overhead in collecting recurring membership fees and we would like to thank our many members who have already switched to Standing Orders. Please contact Martin Davies for our bank details to enable you to set up a standing order digitally via online banking.
